This popular program allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. The program helps students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. Following participation in the program, students will be able to: -- Discuss the roles they play as citizens, workers, and consumers in their community and relate those roles to the free enterprise system.

JA BizTown is recommended for grades 4—6. You will receive information on next steps. You will be able to coordinate a schedule that works for your class either online or in conjunction with a JA representative. Once a volunteer is identified for your class, JA will connect you with the presenter to discuss roles, expectations, and logistics.

We got to watch the kids have fun, take their jobs seriously, and learn about the real world and responsibiity.

I wish I got to go to BizTown when I was an elementary student! Well run and organized, the kids did a lot of pre work to help understand their role in their particular business and what it takes to run a business successfully. They now have a better knowledge on how sales help a business, and added expenses and taxes can affect the bottom line negatively.

I had my CFO tell me "This is a lot of work being a CFO", so it helped them realize that work is hard, and to be at the top, to get the larger paycheck in their account, they are going to have to work for it.
